This concept is based on an open-return wind tunnel design, which produces a continuous stream of air flow from the environment. The roadway is shaped like a half-pipe in cross section, and has a series of turbines and fans suspended above to push air into the road pathway, as well as intake vents on the flanks to continuously draw air through at a controlled rate; essentially, providing a push/pull system of air management. Sensors communicate with vehicles on the road for necessary fine tuned wind adjustments. All turbine, fans, and road lights are powered by solar panels which line the upper surfaces of the road, making the Jet Stream a 100% clean energy design. Investments in this plan are directed in the design, manufacture, and testing of aircraft with particular expertise in advanced materials, lightweight structures, and the integration of solar power systems. Solar panels convert less solar power (between 10 and 20 percent) to electrical power for turning the propellers, compared to the amount of power produced by combustion in a jet engine. In the end, one square foot (0.09 square meter) of solar panels yields three to six times less power than you need to light a 60-watt light bulb.
